May 30 travel in beijingRecently, with the development of economics and connection among the world, more and more people come to China for travel. Beijing is the capital of China, and it’s a modern and open city, Beijing is not only the center of culture, but also center of economics. If you come to china, you should come to Beijing. I spent my four years college time in Beijing, that can’t count a long time, but I have become very familiar with the city. If you haven’t come to Beijing before, now I will give you some helpful suggestions. If you don’t have enough time to explore the old and beautiful city thoroughly, I recommend several places that you should to go. First, the Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City; second, the Great Wall, third, the Summer Palace. Let’s begin with the Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Tiananmen Square is the heart of Beijing. It is 400 meters by 880 meters, that’s made it to be the biggest square in the world. The Monument to the People's Heroes stands in the center of the square, and in the east is the Museum of Chinese History. Opposite the Museum is the Great Hall of the People. In the south, stands the Chairman Mao Hall. And Tiananmen is in the north of the square, through which, you can get into the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City is the basilica of Ming and Qing dynasty. It’s the biggest imperial palace in the world. It was built during 1406-1420, and it totally has 9999.5 rooms. You may ask why the number is so strange. There is a story. The people believed that there was an emperor in the heaven, and he had a palace with 10000 rooms, if they built more rooms than the heaven emperor had, he would be angry. The Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Medium Harmony and the Hall of Protective Harmony are the main buildings of the Forbidden City. The Hall of Supreme Harmony, also referred to as the throne, is 35 meters high, the highest of the halls in the Forbidden City. It was used for important ceremonies like the enthronement of the crown prince, the emperor's birthday celebrations, and the initiation of military expeditions. The Hall of Medium Harmony is where the emperors rested before major ceremonies or receiving officials, and The Hall of Protective Harmony is where the emperors gave banquets and interviewed those who had successfully passed the gruelling imperial examinations. Besides the old buildings, you can also enjoy the collections of antique in the Forbidden City. After go out from the Forbidden City, now let’s go to the Summer Palace. The Summer Palace, located ten kilometers to the northwest of Beijing, used to be a summer residence of Qing Dynasty emperors and is now a public park. It is the best-kept existing royal garden in Beijing. With a concentration of the best of ancient buildings as well as styles of gardening, it is a virtual museum of traditional Chinese gardening. It can be mainly divided into three parts, the palace area, the wanshou Hill and the Kunming lake. There is a long corridor in the palace area, which is 728 meters long and decorated with more than 8000 paintings of landscapes, flowers and human figures. It is the longest and most famous corridor in the world. When you show up in the west terminal of the long corridor, The Wanshou Hill will be infront of you. wanshou means longevity, The layout of halls and towers on the wanshou Hill suits the terrain and shows both order and variety, as you can see from this aerial photograph.
and the kunming lake is the biggest part, it covers upto three quarters of the Summer Palace, there are three islands and several beatiful bridges.
At last, let’s visit a wonder of the world - The great wall. To the northwest and north of Beijing, a huge, serrated wall zigzags it's way to the east and west along the undulating mountains. This is the Great Wall. Construction of the Great Wall started in the 7th century B.C. The vassal states under the Zhou Dynasty in the northern parts of the country each built their own walls for defence purposes. After the state of Qin unified China in 221 B.C., it joined the walls to hold off the invaders from the Xiongnu tribes in the north and extended them to more than 10,000 li or 5,000 kilometers. This is the origin of the name Of the "10,000-li Great Wall".The Great Wall was renovated from time to time after the Qin Dynasty. A major renovation started with the founding of the Ming Dynasty in 1368, and took 200 years to complete. The wall we see today is almost exactly the result of this effort. With a total length of over 6,000 kilometers, it extends to the jiayu Pass in Gansu Province in the west and to the mouth of the Yalu River in Liaoning Province in the east. What lies north of Beijing is but a small section of it. The Badaling section of the Great Wall snaking along the mountains northwest of Beijing was built at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century. Being 7.8 metres high and 5.8 metres wide at the top on the average, it has battle forts at important points, including the corners. That’s a brief introducion to the scenes of Beijing. There are many beautiful places waiting for your visit. If I happened in Beijing, I will be very pleased to be your guide.
